OKFresh is a pilot program funded through the Walmart Foundation, providing year-round fresh fruits and vegetables to eligible families in Lawton, Muskogee, Oklahoma City, and their surrounding areas.
By partnering with local healthcare providers, OKFresh identifies eligible individuals and provides an immediate solution for the provider to fill the gap for those living with food insecurity. In addition, the OKFresh program provides matching dollars to purchase up to $40 worth of fresh produce each month from local farmers markets during the summer and at convenient locations in the service areas during the winter.
This provides fresh, locally grown, and healthy foods that have been produced right here in Oklahoma. OKFresh will serve a limited number of families over a two year period on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The first step is to visit or call one of the participating clinics in the program. A brief discussion with the clinic will determine if you are eligible for OKFresh benefits. If you qualify, the clinic will provide a referral code and a link to the OKFresh enrollment website. Once you have enrolled, you will attend your local farmers market to redeem your membership benefits.
Once at the farmers market, you will pay your out-of-pocket match, and you can start shopping! Your out-of-pocket funds are matched by OKFresh up to $20, and you can pay any amount you wish up to $20. For example, if a member pays $10 cash, they receive $10 total in OKFresh tokens. Members can shop the market as they wish and purchase eligible items at their leisure.
Throughout the program, OKFresh members receive regular texts and/or emails with reminders to attend the monthly markets and redeem benefits, seasonal recipes, and valuable nutritional education to help you and your family make healthy eating choices.
